Millwork Conversations | Sustainability in Art

Millwork Conversations is a happy hour chat between Omaha’s creators, innovators, artists, thought leaders, and activators. It’s an opportunity to learn from people across communities right here in Nebraska. We dive into new ideas and what’s possible – how to push past real and imagined boundaries. Each month provides an inspiring, memorable experience for attendees through compelling conversations.

Join us for an evening of insightful discussions Holly Lukasiewicz and Lauren Bates, proceeded by an hour of networking with tech enthusiasts, professionals, and innovators.

Holly Lukasiewicz /she.her/ with District 2 Floral Studio merges her identities as an art educator and environmentalist by creating flora-based works inspired by the ephemerality each season offers. She is deeply grounded in local agriculture and sustainable design practices as they relate to the well being of our local and global communities. Encouraging others to connect with sustainability through beauty and flowers, she offers workshops, flower subscriptions, event work, custom installations and flower preservation services.

Lauren Bates is a freelance journalist and sustainable fashion advocate, storyteller and activist. Her enthusiasm for sustainability, ethics and community stems from over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry coupled with her background in journalism. She believes that compassionate service journalism can be used as, and is, a vehicle to educate and support communities–sharing stories based on facts while leaving room for conversation and connection.

While Lauren’s background is in the fashion industry, she views sustainability as a whole. To Lauren, the thoughts we think, the foods we eat, the media we consume and who we spend our time with all constitute aspects of how we live a sustainable, fulfilling life.
