Millwork Commons is rooted in a rich history that starts with the native prairie lands upon which it exists. From historic buildings that date back to the 1880s – when millworkers and furniture makers were the innovators of their time – to hard times of abandonment to its current revitalization, the Millwork community is now creating an era of its own.
Throughout the streets, corridors, spaces, and organizations that make up Millwork Commons, you will find art and artists creating. The arts bring vibrancy and curiosity to the neighborhood while providing opportunities to play, question, and even get a little messy.
This is a place for entrepreneurs and startups to innovate and build upon new ideas across all fields. For innovation to exist you need an ecosystem that is rich of all backgrounds, disciplines, and perspectives. We are home to tech startups and non-profits who explore technology in their work whether that be robotics, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, software, or digital art.
In a neighborhood full of people with diverse stories, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, innovation happens. In Millwork Commons, we encourage collaboration and create space for the innovators and creators of our time to meet up and regularly run into one another so they can think together, solve problems, and support each other’s work.
